To make a very long story short, this directory was created for small businesses in New Jersey to avoid the unnecessary cost associated with gaining online presence. Greater New Jersey Small Business Directory is an online business directory that promotes only small businesses in the greater New Jersey area. It was created to provide small businesses in New Jersey with an easy and fast method of growing their online presence. It is organized by area and category in the greater New Jersey area. Every small business in New Jersey is entitled to a free business listing to promote their business / service on the internet.

Years ago when I started designing websites I began to learn all about the internet and how it actually worked. I had created my first web page and thought that Google would automatically place my website into it’s directory. I later learned that this would actually take 3-6 months depending on how well my page was created. Soon after I had created my first web page I began to receive numerous phone calls from companies all over the United States asking if I would like my web page manually submitted to the search engines for a “small fee”.

After a few weeks of my webpage not being noticed by search engines you could imagine how enticing it would seem to have my page manually submitted. However, there is no such thing as a company manually submitting your website to the major search engines. This is one of the most abused myths on the internet and is used to drain cash from novice web developers and small businesses. What companies will actually do is create a business listing on their own directory that is already in Google, Yahoo and Bing’s system. The search engines will check their directory for any new additions. Your website will be seen on their directory and is placed into the system. The last reason I created this directory is to allow small businesses that simply do not have the cash to make their own website a way of gaining online presence. Small businesses all over New Jersey can use their business listing on this directory to showcase their work and services for free. Just like Wikipedia and opensource software, this business directory will allow everyone access to the potential the internet has to offer regardless of their resources.
